Breaking the State of Siege, 250 Protesters Reach the A-Bomb Dome and March the City. /The Police Assault and Arrest One Student. / The Day 2 of the Battle of Hiroshima–the Action to Crush the G7 Hiroshima Summit
On May 18, the Action to crush the G7 Hiroshima Summit was held again, co-sponsored by the August 6 Hiroshima Grand Action Organizing Committee and the Grand Workers March to Stop Constitutional Revision and War.
The Protesters–workers and students–defeated the police’s declared plan to lockdown even the A-bomb Dome Area from noon May 18 and held a rally there.
At 6:30 p.m., 250 people from around Japan gathered in front of the A-Bomb Dome and marched from there to smash the G7 summit and the Japan-U.S. summit meeting.
During the demonstration, the riot police suddenly attacked the demonstrators and outrageously arrested one student.
The demonstrators were furious at the unjust suppression and determined to crush tomorrow’s visit to Peace Memorial Park by the G7 leaders.
